The Lost Lineup Card

Easy — logic-grid deduction puzzle

The announcer's card for Cassius, Emilio, Darnell, Fitzgerald and Thaddeus never reached the microphone, so the bench had to rebuild the introductions from memory.

Game one was about to tip off. The five starters, Cassius, Emilio, Darnell, Fitzgerald and Thaddeus, stood at half-court waiting to hear their names. Each of them wore a different jersey number. The announcer had a card with the whole lineup on it, and three positions were circled in pen: small forward, shooting guard and center. But the card never made it to the microphone. Now the bench had to piece the introductions back together from what they remembered.
