The Missing Score Sheet

Medium — logic-grid deduction puzzle

The sheet naming the scoring leaders Everett, Ignacio, Marcellus and Deshawn went missing from the scorer's table.

Four games into the finals, the sheet listing each night's top scorer has gone missing from the scorer's table. Everett, Ignacio, Marcellus and Deshawn each led the scoring in one of the four games. It was a different man each night, and each had his own points and his own rebounds. One thing survived: a card on the bench that gives every leader his neighbour points. That is not his own score. It is the points of the leaders of the games just before and just after his, added together. The leaders of game 1 and game 4 had only one game next to theirs, so their neighbour points are just that one leader's points. Time to put the four nights back on the sheet.

Clues

  1. Marcellus's neighbour points came to 58.
  2. Everett and Deshawn scored 61 points between them.
  3. Only one of these was true: Deshawn led game 1, or Ignacio scored 38 points.
  4. The leader who scored 38 points did not pull down 10 rebounds.
  5. Together, Marcellus and Deshawn pulled down 16 rebounds.
  6. Of Everett, Ignacio and Marcellus, Everett was the first to lead a game.
  7. Everett grabbed more rebounds than Ignacio, and more than Deshawn too.
