Very Hard — logic-grid deduction puzzle
A wave from a ferry soaked the clerk's notebook just after Minseo, Jaehyun, Sora and Donghae closed their scarf stalls on the pier.
On the busiest afternoon of heritage week, ferry after ferry brought visitors to the port city. Four dyers had stalls on the pier to meet them: Minseo, Jaehyun, Sora and Donghae. Each had dyed silk scarves with plants and bark, in a colour nobody else had. Stepping off the ferry, you passed stalls A, B, C and D, in that order. Stalls A and B stood on the open pier, while C and D were under the roof of the ferry hall. The harbour office wanted to know which stretch of the pier drew the buyers, so at closing time a clerk noted a neighbour tally for every stall. A stall's tally left out its own sales: it added up the scarves sold at the stalls right beside it. The stalls at the two ends had only one neighbour, so their tallies counted just that one stall. No two dyers sold the same number of scarves. Then a ferry pulled in too fast, its wave soaked the notebook, and the day had to be pieced together from what was left.
Read the clues, rule out what cannot be, and prove what must be. Every GRIDIGMA puzzle is verified by a solver that shows the reasoning behind each step, so a solution is never a guess.
