The Lost Running Order — Daily puzzle for 2026-11-04

Easy — logic-grid deduction puzzle

The card showing when Marta, Leon, Bess and Otto go on went missing just before the matinee doors opened.

The little hall smells of dust and lemonade. Behind the black curtain, four performers wait with their cases: Marta, Leon, Bess and Otto. Each of them does one act of the Saturday matinee, and each brings out a different puppet. The first two acts come before the break, and the last two come after it. But somewhere between the last practice and opening the doors, the card with the running order went missing. Now the stage manager has to put the afternoon back together from what everyone remembers. Who goes on in which act, and with which puppet?

Clues

  1. Marta opens the show in the first act.
  2. Leon goes on before both Bess and Otto.
  3. The dragon comes out before the break, in the first act or the second act.
  4. Marta does not work the dragon.
  5. The mermaid is not Marta's puppet.
  6. Only one of these memories is right: Marta works the fox, Leon works the mermaid, Bess works the knight.
  7. The fourth act, the last of the afternoon, belongs to Otto.
