Rough Air

Easy — logic-grid deduction puzzle

Rough air scatters the zeppelins carrying Aiden, Eliza, Grace, and Everard, leaving each one waiting at a different height.

Aiden, Eliza, Grace, and Everard were travelling on separate zeppelins when rough air scattered their convoy. Each zeppelin settled at a different height to wait. The radio kept cutting out, but the passengers managed to report the symbols on their zeppelins and the messages they had received. Can you piece together the reports?

Clues

  1. The heights where the zeppelins carrying Aiden and Eliza waited added up to 4000 metres.
  2. The zeppelins carrying Grace and Eliza waited at neighbouring heights.
  3. The symbol on Eliza's zeppelin was a crescent.
  4. The zeppelin with the ring symbol waited at a height between those of the zeppelins with the crescent and snowflake symbols.
  5. The zeppelin that received “stand by” waited higher than the one that received “expect a check”, but lower than the one that received “get ready to go down”.
  6. Only one of these statements is true: The zeppelin with the ring symbol received “get ready to go down”. The zeppelin with the snowflake symbol received “get ready to go down”. The zeppelin with the snowflake symbol did not receive “evacuate”.
