Very Hard — logic-grid deduction puzzle
Piece together the morning's sale from the auctioneer's notes and the talk over coffee, knowing that one of the claims was false.
The storage yard on the edge of town was clearing out. Four units had sat unpaid for years, so one morning the auctioneer sold them off one after another, with every door still shut. Caspian, Cordula, Cyrus and Celandine each won a single unit, each at a different price, and only found out what they had bought when the doors rolled up. The auctioneer kept a note on every unit of its next-door money: the prices paid for the unit sold just before it and the unit sold just after it, added together. The units sold at the very start and the very end of the morning had only one neighbour, so their next-door money was just that one price. Later, over coffee, the bidders swore to three claims, each marked with its own letter. Only one of those claims was false.
Read the clues, rule out what cannot be, and prove what must be. Every GRIDIGMA puzzle is verified by a solver that shows the reasoning behind each step, so a solution is never a guess.
