Pick-Up Night at the Mask Stand — Daily puzzle for 2026-10-09

Medium — logic-grid deduction puzzle

Use the helper's quick notes to find out who collected from each peg, and which color and mask each customer took home.

It was the night of the big masked ball, and the little rental stand was buzzing. Four customers came to pick up the outfits they had hired: Paloma, Niall, Zsofia and Adeel. The outfits hung on a row of four pegs along the wall, each with a small number tag, from number one by the door to number four at the far end. Each outfit was a different bright color, and each had a mask clipped to it with its own painted shape. The stand was so busy that the helper only had time to scribble a few quick notes about who took what. Now someone has to sort it all out.

Clues

  1. The second peg held neither the triangle mask nor the circle mask.
  2. Niall, whoever hired the purple outfit, whoever got the star mask and whoever used the fourth peg were four different customers.
  3. Add the tag number on Paloma's peg to the tag number on the peg holding the star mask, counting it twice if it is the same peg, and you get four.
  4. The green outfit and the triangle mask hung on pegs right next to each other.
  5. Either Niall collected from the second peg or Paloma collected from the third peg, but not both.
  6. No two of these were the same customer: Zsofia, whoever took the orange outfit, and whoever used the fourth peg.
